Louis Schou-Hansen (b. 1992, Denmark) is a performance artist and dancer currently based in Oslo. Their work explores the human body as a vulnerable and disobedient site of fiction, often shaped by desire, mortality, and self-destruction. Schou-Hansen frequently turns to history and counter-history—particularly the political mess of early modern Europe—as an atempt to trace ghostly figures in contemporary culture and reanimate unresolved narratives. Since 2024, they initiate and curate the annual, parasite performance festival Mind Eater, together with Runa Borch Skolseg.

Schou-Hansen’s work has been shortlisted for the Norwegian Critics’ Award (Shine Utopians, 2019) and Sandefjord Kunstforening’s Art Prize together with Harald Beharie (2023). Their work has been shown at venues across Europe and the US including ICA – Institute of Contemporary Arts (London); Dansehallerne (Copenhagen); Dansens Hus (Oslo); NADA – New Art Dealers Alliance (New York); Kistefos Museet (Kistefos); Black Box Teater (Oslo); Roskilde Festival (Roskilde); Mocvara Gallery (Zagreb); Centrale Fies (Dro); PODIUM (Oslo), Suprainfinit Gallery (Bucharest); My Wild Flag (Stockholm); Munchmuseet (Oslo); PAF – Performing Arts Forum (St. Erme); among others.

Since 2015 they have collaborated on and performed in the works of Ingri Fiksdal, Rosalind Goldberg, Roza Moshtaghi, Janne Camilla Lyster, Edhem Jesenkovic, Pedro Gomez Egana, Goro Tronsmo and Runa Borch Skolseg to name some. They hold a BA in dance from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHIO) and MA from the Dutch Art Institute (DAI).
